CoverKids CHIP
Welcome to Amerigroup Community Care. We are here to provide access to care through CoverKids, Tennessee’s Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). We cover children, pregnant women, and new moms who meet income guidelines. New moms stay with the CoverKids program for 60 days after they give birth.
Am I eligible?
Families who meet these requirements are eligible for CoverKids:
- Your child is younger than age 19.
- Neither you nor your child is eligible for TennCare Medicaid.
- Your household income is at or below 250% of the federal poverty level (FPL).
- You met all non-financial eligibility requirements, such as being a U.S citizen or a qualified non-citizen.
Once your child is enrolled in CoverKids, they will receive 12 months of benefits. CoverKids will not look at their eligibility again, even if your family’s income changes during the year.

Copays
For some types of care, you may have to pay part of the cost. This is called a copay. Copays vary based on your income, but total payment will not exceed 5% of your annual household income.
If you have copays, you will find them on your CoverKids member ID card. Your ID card will also indicate your benefit level. The following chart lists the copays based on the services you receive.
