TennCare

TennCare is the state of Tennessee’s Medicaid program. It provides health care to low-income pregnant women, children, older adults and individuals who have a disability. Amerigroup is a health plan serving TennCare members in the state of Tennessee. 

For some types of care, you may have to pay part of the cost. This is called a copay. Not everyone has a copay. Your Amerigroup card will tell you if you have a copay and what it is. Learn more about copays on the TennCare website.

To keep your benefits, you need to renew every 12 months. If you don’t renew on time, you could lose your benefits. Learn more.

Dental care

One checkup and cleaning every six months through DentaQuest for children under age 21. Adult dental services for pregnant and postpartum members ages 21 and older.

TennCare now offers dental benefits to TennCare Medicaid adult members 21 and older:

  • Two annual dental cleanings
  • X-rays once a year

Vision care

Vision care services through EyeQuest for children under age 21, including eyeglass lenses and frames as medically necessary. Plus, if glasses are broken or lost, Amerigroup will replace them.

Behavioral health care

Help for you or a family member with problems like depression, anxiety, family issues, and alcohol or drug-related problems. This includes:

  • Crisis services (mental health, alcohol and drug-related problems)
  • Inpatient and outpatient substance use disorder benefits
  • Outpatient behavioral health services (mental health, alcohol and drug-related problems)
  • Intensive community-based treatment
  • Psychiatric inpatient facility services, rehabilitation services and residential treatment
  • We also provide members with access to our CommonGround Recovery Library. Free resources and tools to help you start the recovery and healing process.
Healthy Rewards

Healthy Rewards is a no-cost, optional program for Amerigroup members. The program encourages you to get the care you need to create a healthy lifestyle and then rewards you with gift cards to popular retailers such as Amazon, Kohl’s, Lowes, and Subway.

You may be eligible to earn rewards for some of the activities below:

  • Up to $20 for high blood pressure medication refills
  • Up to $20 for antidepressant medication refills
  • $50 for breast cancer screenings
  • $25 for cervical cancer screenings
  • $20 for adult wellness visits
  • $50 for childhood wellness visits
  • $25 for getting your baby’s immunizations (shots) on time
  • $50 for getting your adolescent’s HPV immunizations (shots) on time
  • $50 for a diabetic retinal eye exam
  • $10 for a diabetic A1c screening
  • $25 for pregnant members who go to a prenatal visit in their first trimester or within 42 days of enrollment
  • $50 for new moms who go to their postpartum visit 7-84 days after delivery
  • $5 for a diabetes management quiz

Enroll and earn rewards

To see what you’re eligible to earn, enroll in Healthy Rewards. Follow these three steps:

  1. Create or log in to your Amerigroup online account. To create an account, you’ll need your member ID number (shown on your Amerigroup ID card), your birth date, and your ZIP code.

    If you need help setting up your Amerigroup online account, call Member Services at 800-600-4441 (TRS 711).
  2. Visit the Benefit Reward Hub from your Amerigroup account. You can also enroll in the program or learn more by calling Healthy Rewards at 888-990-8681 (TRS 711) Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern time.
  3. Once enrolled, remember to provide your email address and mobile phone number so you can receive updates on your rewards.

Steps to follow when you find out you're pregnant

Here are a few tips to help you and your baby stay strong and healthy.

  • Schedule a visit with your OB-GYN.
    Prenatal care is important for you and your baby. Your OB-GYN will ask about your overall health, complete a physical exam, and provide a due date for your baby. To find an OB-GYN, use the Find a Doctor
  • Take care of you.
    Stay healthy by eating right, staying active, and avoiding tobacco and alcohol.
  • Tell TennCare you’re pregnant to access dental benefits.
    You can update your online TennCare Connect account or call 855-259-0701.
  • Complete an obstetrics health screener.
    This helps us get you the care and support you need during your pregnancy. To complete it, call Member Services.
  • Connect with an OB case manager.
    Receive one-on-one support before and after you deliver. Call Member Services to learn more about our Taking Care of Baby and Me® program.

Healthy Rewards for pregnant members

You may be able to earn rewards for completing your prenatal and postpartum visits. To find out what you’re eligible to earn, enroll in Healthy Rewards through your Amerigroup account and then visit the Benefit Reward Hub. You also can call Healthy Rewards at 888-990-8681 (TRS 711) Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central time. Healthy Rewards is provided at no cost to you.

My Advocate®

You also can enroll in the My Advocate program. My Advocate delivers prenatal, postpartum, and well-child health education by phone, web, and mobile app. Visit myadvocatehelps.com to enroll.

As an Amerigroup member, you will receive information about prenatal care, pregnancy benefits, and incentive programs. To request a Pregnancy and Beyond Resource Guide, call 800-600-4441 (TRS 711).

Caring for your new baby

The care your baby receives from their pediatrician is the best way to keep them healthy. We offer many resources to help you learn how to care for your newborn.

Maternal health

As a new mother, it’s important for you to receive the support and healthcare you need. Caring for yourself and using the resources available to you will help you to provide the best care for your newborn.

You may be eligible for Tennessee Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) benefits. To learn more, you can call 800-342-5942 or visit the WIC website here.

Breastfeeding can be a challenge for some new moms. There are resources available to help. Visit La Leche League International at llli.org for breastfeeding support. You also can call the La Leche League Breastfeeding Helpline at 877-452-5324. If you have questions about breastfeeding and medications, you can visit infantrisk.com or call 806-352-2519.

If you think you may be suffering from postpartum depression, we want to support you. Your doctor can help to put you on a pathway to recovery and you can contact Postpartum Support International (PSI) at 800-944-4PPD (4773) or postpartum.net. To learn more about postpartum depression, visit healthwise.net.
